the 22nd January 2009 edition
Every year in January the Bourne Show Committee holds a post-Christmas
party for up to 80 of the senior residents of the Bourne and surrounding
areas. This year's party was held on Saturday 17th January in the main
hall at South Farnham School. The party began at 3pm with guests being
treated to some splendid entertainment, kicked off with a medley of
short dance pieces by members of the Demeric School of Dance (who are
based at The Farnham Maltings). Later Lydia Froud, a talented young
singer just 13 years old, sang four lovely ballads; and the
entertainment was rounded off with 2 new dance pieces performed by
A-level students from Alton College (Beth Warnock, Catherine Brown and
Emily Fausset). The show committee then served their guests a
traditional afternoon tea, and this was followed by a raffle, bingo and
finally some community singing (led by Caroline Gale) to round off the
afternoon. The party is run by the members of the Bourne Show committee
and is funded through the proceeds of the show - there is no charge to
guests for whom transport is also be provided. The committee would like
to thank the Demeric School of Dance, Lydia Froud and the Alton College
students all of whom very kindly gave their time free of charge; we
would also like to thank Mr Andrew Carter and his staff at South Farnham
School for providing an excellent venue. If you would like to receive
an invite to the party, or know of someone who might, please let us know
by phone (01252 821253) e-mail (party@thebourneshow.com) or through the
'Contact' page on the show's web site (www.thebourneshow.com).
This year's Bourne Show will take place on 18th July 2009 on the Bourne
Green.
